About Us
Betsy J. Powers, DVM
Dr. Powers spent 25 years as a tax accountant on Cape Cod before returning to school to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
She completed her undergraduate work in bio-medical molecular biology at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. She then attended the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, receiving her DVM.
After completing a clinical year at the Boren Veterinary Hospital at Oklahoma State University and a surgical preceptorship at the Queen Mother Hospital for Small Animals at the London University Royal Veterinary College, she practiced in Hyannis, Massachusetts before becoming Chief of Staff for a corporate pet hospital in Statesville, NC.
Dr. Powers opened Powers Veterinary Hospital in April 2019.
She is proudly married to James, a CPA. They share 4 daughters, 6 grandchildren, Kitt, a Kittian "Coconut Retriever" and GoGo, our hospital cat.
Powers Veterinary Hospital is a Certified Human Animal Bond Hospital. This means that your pet is recognized as a member of your family. All visits are conducted with that in mind. Visits are as comfortable, fun and stress-free as possible for the pets and owners alike.
